Rixson Repairs – Terms of Business


1. Introduction


These terms govern the supply of our services and products. By using our services or purchasing our products, you agree to these terms.

2.1 Our trading name is Rixson Repairs , based in Hastings England.

3. Service Estimates & Repairs


3.1 Estimates may be given via email, but we typically require an in-person inspection to provide an accurate quote. You can request an estimate by:

• Post: Send your items via our free postal pack. 

The postal pack is unbranded and uses a PO Box number as the address for added security. 

We are not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. Do not send original packaging, as it may not be returned.

• We operate a  drop off point in Faversham Kent - Unscheduled visits may be turned away. Estimates are free if you proceed with our services; otherwise, an admin fee applies (see clause 3.5).

3.2 By sending your item, you consent to us dismantling and cleaning it for assessment.

3.3 We will email you a repair estimate detailing the required work, replacement parts, and costs. Estimates remain valid for 60 days.

3.4 To proceed, you must confirm via email that you accept the scope of work and authorize us to begin.

3.5 If you choose not to proceed, we will return your item, but you must not run it without reapplying lubricating oils, as this may cause damage. We are not liable for any resulting issues.

3.6 We do not work on counterfeit goods and are legally required to report them to authorities.

3.7 By sending your item, you allow us to photograph it and use the images for marketing purposes unless you request otherwise.


4. Repair Process


4.1 Estimated completion times are approximate. If delays occur, we will update you as soon as possible. If you request your item before completion, we will return it without guarantee and may still charge for work done.

4.2 Some repairs may require third-party specialists, whose costs are included in our estimate.

4.3 If additional work or parts are needed, we will inform you before proceeding.

4.4 We fine-tune accuracy and performance but cannot prevent natural wear and tear over time.

4.5 We pressure-test watches for water resistance, but this is not a permanent feature and is not covered under our guarantee.

Vintage watches (over 20 years old) should never be considered water resistant. 

5. Products


Product images on our website are for reference only. Colors and details may vary slightly from those shown.


6. Payment & Charges


6.1 We accept Visa credit, Visa debit, and Visa Electron. Payments are required as follows:

• Services: Full payment is due before collection or dispatch of your repaired item.

• Products: Full payment is required before dispatch.

6.2 Late Payments: If payment is not received within 14 days of collection/delivery, we may charge 3% annual interest above the Bank of England base rate.

6.3 Storage Fees: If an item remains uncollected for three months, a storage fee of 10% of the service cost applies. This fee increases every additional three months.

6.4 Unpaid Items: If an item remains unpaid or uncollected for 12 months, we reserve the right to sell or auction it. We will notify you one month before this happens.

6.5 Overseas Customers: You are responsible for any import or customs duties. If we pay these on your behalf, they will be added to your invoice along with a £15 admin fee.


7. Warranty


7.1 We provide a 1 year warranty on our services. This covers defects directly related to our repairs.

7.2 The warranty does not cover:

• Accidental damage, mistreatment, wear and tear (e.g., stripped crown threads, anti-reflective coating wear), water resistance, or third-party repairs.

• Batteries, cases, straps, or bracelets.

• Issues unrelated to our original repair work.

7.3 Removing a watch back by anyone other than us voids the warranty.

7.4 Partial repairs are not covered under warranty.


8. Your Right to Cancel


8.1 Services: You may cancel within 14 days, but if we have already begun work, you must pay for work completed. If repairs are finished, you cannot cancel.

8.2 Products: You can cancel within 14 days of receiving the item unless it was a custom order or split across multiple deliveries.

8.3 We cover return shipping costs only if the product is faulty, misdescribed, or if we made an error. Otherwise, return shipping is your responsibility.


9. Privacy Policy


9.1 We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with UK data protection laws.

9.2 We collect personal details only for order processing and service updates.

9.3 We do not sell, rent, or share your data except for payment processing.

9.4 We may send occasional marketing emails, but you can opt out at any time.

10. General Terms


10.1 You need our written consent to transfer your rights under these terms.

10.2 This contract is between you and us; no third party has rights under it.

10.3 If any part of this contract is found to be illegal, the rest remains valid.

10.4 If we delay enforcing these terms, we can still enforce them later.

10.5 These terms are governed by English law, and disputes will be settled in English courts.
